To the Dogs
They used to be mine. I feed them, bathe, give them meds, pick up their shit, I do everything for them... Then Emily comes along and now they are hers.
When I was pregnant with Emily, Tucker used to find her in my belly and lay his ear up against by stomach to listen to her heartbeat. Bree could have cared less that I was pregnant but when I brought her home she became her second Mommy. She never left her side, ever. Tucker was a little weary of her. She was small and made alot of noise! As Emily got bigger he put with her ear chewing and crawling all over him. He let her know he wasn't thrilled by getting up and leaving... Bree let Emily do whatever she pleased. She chewed on her ears, layed on her, walked on her, pulled her lips... you name it.
Now Emily is turning three in just a couple of weeks. Sometime in the past three years the dogs have decided that although they still love me that they have become HER dogs. When I wake up on the morning they only acknowledge me because I let them out first thing in the morning. Do you want to know what they do when I let them in? They RUN down the hallway to Emily's bedroom and sniff under her door to see if she is awake yet. When she actually does wake up they RUN down the hallway to greet her by doing the booty dance. (They don't have tails so they wag their ass) I barely get a glance but she gets the damn booty dance!!
That child tries to pick Bree up by her neck to the point where I am not sure she can breathe... Emily runs and jumps on Tucker when he is sleeping under his blankets.... When they are playing with their dog toys she demands by screaming like a banshee that they give her the toys. If they don't she goes up to them and yanks the toy out of their mouths... She lays on Bree and crawls all over her while she is sleeping...She clutches onto to Tucker's back hair and pushes him along the house like a train...She takes Bree's lips and demands kisses...She demands kisses from both of them and yells at the top of her lungs until they comply...She gets their snacks and runs up and down the hallway teasing them... She is downright rotten to them at times yet they have chosen her over me!!
I don't want you people to think that she is just mean to the dogs... she is not. I do not let her hurt the dogs nor do I let them hurt her. I just can't believe how much they all seem to love each other. For all that she does to them the dogs put up with her and WANT her to be around them. They kiss on her all the time, they listen to her when she tells them to do or not to do things (Something which I am still unable to do), and they all snuggle together. I watch her with the dogs and I just can't get over the love and trust they all have for each other. It looks like Toys R Us threw up in her room but she could care less about any of that. She only cares about two little creatures that she has claimed as her own and they seem to have claimed her as well.
I won't tell you people in the north and in the mid west that I had to turn on the air conditioner this week. Nope, that would just be mean...
