It has been a LONG time!
Okay okay, I know it has been a long time and I have had people email me about it. This past month though has flown by with all the visitors and going to Georgia. Things are finally starting to calm down again BUT as you all know we will be moving soon. That is going to be interesting... Three days in the car with a baby, two dogs, and two cats... I wish I could just fly to NY and let Keith do it! I am glad though that we are going to NY. It will be nice to spend some time with the family without thinking we have so much to do in such a short time. Of course going to Ian and Kari's wedding reception is an added bonus! It hit me like a ton of bricks a few days ago that we would be able to go! Of course Keith's Mom was trying to get us to bring Em to the party but Keith and I feel that this is our time to have fun and she is going to stay with my friend Terry. That will actually be the first time that Keith and I will be out without the little stinker... I think I can do it! Keith and I are really happy that we are going to be there!
So, there is so much baby stuff to catch up on that I don't even know where to start. Hmmm.... Sleeping is so much better. I put her to bed fully awake and she goes to sleep on her own, no problems. She will sleep up to 9 hours now and I always have to wake her up in the morning. It is nice for me to be able to sleep in again, I am starting to feel human! Emmy is eating so good. Almost too good because she prefers solid food over her bottle. I feel like I am forcing her bottle on her BUT she still needs it. She eats three meals a day now. For breakfast she has cereal and fruit, for lunch she has a veggie, meat meal, and a fruit dessert. Then for dinner she has more cereal and fruit. I let her go crazy at night and get all messy. Now that she is using her hands more she likes to touch her food and check it out so she is covered in food before her bath! Anyway, before each meal she is offered a 4 ounce bottle which she does take some of but not usually all. And I will offer her a bottle of course in between meals if she is fussy and one at night night before she goes to bed. SHE EATS ALOT! The Doc said though that she would be trying to catch up to other 5 month olds so I guess she was right! She no longer need to be on the expensive formula either so that is wonderful! She has caught up in weight to the babies that she should have been born with.... Yeah Emmy!
As far as I go I am starting to feel more confident about being her mother. Thank God she is so good because I am such a freak! I still look at her and can't believe that she is mine. She is just so sweet, so cute, and so good... how can she be mine!! She laughs out loud now which is funny because is sounds more like a grunt than anything. She is always watching her hands and fingers so I am guessing that she will be grabbing at things any time now. She sucks on her fingers and chews on mine whenever she gets a liking too! She has rolled over a few times but she really doesn't remember how she did it. One day she did it about 4 times and I haven't seen her do it again except the other morning when I found her on her belly. It seems like everyday I catch her doing something that she wasn't doing the past day. I almost get sad because she doesn't look like a new born anymore, she looks like a big baby! I am glad though, she is healthy and that is all that matter to me.
She beckons me now when she doesn't see me... She is loud just like her father... she yells all the time! She will just lay there and talk to herself and make herself smile. She is very independent but lately she has been showing some signs of being clingy. She puts her bottom lip out when I put her down and does a few cries, she want to know where I am all the time too. She is really trying to talk now too. She laughs her butt off when I copy all her little noises. AND she loves it when you make wet sounds... she goes nutso for that!
She has a new habit that she has developed over the past couple of days... when she has a mouth full of food she likes to blow spits out! I have to try really hard not to laugh because she gets it all over her face and her body! Then she looks at me with this look like " How did you like that trick mommy?"... Of course I have to tell her not to do that, can't really bring her up spitting her food out at people but right now it is too dang funny! I am really starting to think that she is starting to understand things. Maybe not the words so much but how things are said and my reactions to things. It is interesting to see how she reacts to me and her environment. She is really learning a lot so quickly!
Well, that about sums it up for now. I promise not to let it go this long again!!! Until later!
